Hello there...

I'm Jolijn, a young filmmaker and photographer from the Netherlands.

A little about me

My name is Jolijn,

I was born in small village in East Belgium right at the border of the Netherlands. I grew up with my father, mother and two older siblings. I remember we used to go with the whole family on these 1-hour-long hikes on the Sint Pietersberg, It.s a 171 meters hill that crosses through the two countries.

Relationship with nature

Although both of these countries aren't particularly known for their wildlife, during our hikes, we occasionally spotted hares hopping around.

One time when I noticed they all seemed to be running in the same direction. Curious, I decided to follow them...

Curiosity

To my surprise, I discovered a massive hare habitat hidden deep within the forest.

It was fascinating to me that these little creatures had created their own little 'village' for themselves.

From that moment I grew a big curiosity for nature around me. So I started tracking ants, birds, frogs... Just any kind of animal basically!

Films

During highschool my keen interest in animals remained strong. On days off from school, I would often watch documentaries, like those from National Geographic.

But my all time favorite were for sure the ones narrated by David Attenborough! Documentaries like 'Our Planet' and 'Planet Earth' truly wowed me!

Education

1. The way those documentaries brought wildlife to life inspired me so much, That I decided I wanted to do the same. So, after graduating high school, I applied to a college in the Netherlands to major in Film and begin my journey to become a Wildlife Filmmaker...
